Itqan114

Itqan114 features

Itqan (Itqan114) is a free web app for memorizing and revising the Quran: you recite from memory and it follows you word by word, stops you at a mistake, then writes you a report of what you mastered and where you slipped. Here are its eight sections as they work today; each one is explained in detail in the guide.

Reciting: live checking, word by word

Choose a surah, tap the microphone button, and recite from anywhere in it: the app finds your place from your first few words, so you never have to select the ayahs. Every word you say correctly turns green, the page turns by itself when you reach its end, and you tap nothing between ayahs.

If the app is unsure it heard a word, it underlines it in amber until it becomes clear. If you say a different word, or stay silent on it for five seconds, the recitation pauses and the stop panel opens with an alert tone: it shows the words before it, its place, and what it heard from you, so you can say it again. Say it correctly and you move on with nothing deducted; get it wrong three times, or let ten seconds pass, and it turns red and counts against you.

To recite by heart, turn on “Hide”: the words stay hidden and each one appears when you say it correctly. You may begin with the isti‘adha and the basmala and they will not count against you — except in Al-Fatiha, where the basmala is its first ayah.

A report after every session

At the end of the session you get a report with your overall accuracy, your correct words, your mistakes, and a breakdown for each ayah: “Excellent” from 95%, “Good” from 80%, and “Needs review” below that. The score starts at 100 and loses five points for each red word (in a passage of fewer than twenty words, each word costs its share of the passage instead), and “How your score was worked out” shows you the full calculation.

Nothing is deducted for a word you stopped at and then said correctly, nor for extra or repeated words; they are only shown so you can see where you hesitated. From the report you can start a new session, download it as a PDF, or share it. And the session’s audio is kept automatically after the report appears: you can go back to it, your teacher in a circle and your guardian can hear it — your followers cannot — and you can delete it whenever you like.

Position test

A test in the style of Quran competitions: you choose your range of juz’ or surahs and the number of positions, and the draw picks random positions. At each one you are shown the start of an ayah and continue from there to the end of the page with the text hidden, while the stop panel works just as it does in reciting. At the end of each position an “Enough” card appears and you move to the next one; no scores are shown until you have finished them all. Your result is the average of the positions, and your tests stay in “My tests” so you can finish them or retake the same positions. No audio from the test is kept.

Reading the mushaf

The Madani mushaf in the riwaya of Hafs from Asim, with its 604 pages, 15 lines per page and the King Fahd Complex script. Turn the pages with the buttons or by swiping, or read it “Ayah by ayah” on cards. Tap any ayah to open its tafsir — Al-Muyassar, Ibn Kathir or Al-Tabari — and, in the other interface languages, its translation in your language. It also has “Focus mode” and a larger font.

Listening

Listen to a surah in the voice of the reciter you choose and follow its ayahs as they are recited: “With text” shows the surah with the current ayah highlighted, “Ayah by ayah” shows one card per ayah, “Scenes” shows silent nature views, or you can keep a still screen. The mini player stays with you as you move around the app. If ayah timings are not available for a recitation, you hear it without the text.

Staying organized: My plan, My journey, Mistakes and reminders

In “My plan” you set up a plan for new memorization, review or consolidation, with its range (surahs, juz’, pages, ayahs or the whole Quran) and your minutes per day; the work is spread out for you day by day, and a task is marked done by itself when you recite it. “My journey” brings together what you have memorized, your sessions, your accuracy and a calendar of a year of recitation.

“Mistakes” lists the words you got wrong more than once, the most frequent first, and “Review” lists the surahs that are due for revision. Reminders reach you as app notifications, and by email if you choose, with quiet hours you set.

Follow-up: teachers, institutions and families

A teacher has circles, assignments and reviews of their students’ recitations; an institution has a dashboard to manage its teachers, circles, students and announcements; and a parent has the “Family” page to add their children and give the consents needed. Any account can also share its progress, view-only, with a teacher it trusts. The details are on the “Itqan114 for teachers and institutions” page.

Competing

“Competitions” lists current, upcoming and past competitions created by the platform admin. You recite them ayah by ayah with the ayahs hidden, and your best result for each ayah counts on the “Leaderboard”. Your public profile shows what you have memorized, your number of sessions and their average accuracy; make it private whenever you like and “Anonymous reciter” appears in place of your name.

Peace of mind

Your session audio is kept for you, your teacher in a circle, your institution and your guardian — not for followers — and no video is kept without your consent; and you decide how long recordings are kept: a week, a month, three months, six months or a year — ninety days if you don’t choose. In “Access history” you can see who opened each recording and when, and you can delete your recordings or your account whenever you like.

The interface comes in seven languages, in light and dark themes, and the app installs on phones and computers straight from the browser, with no app store. If you need help, the guide explains every section step by step, and support replies to you by email.
